GOTHPASS is for Windows 98/2000/XP. 220 kb. Enter your Owner Verification password on the screen keypad using the mouse. Push the Owner Verification button. Next, select if you want the input to be visible or not, using the radio buttons. Enter a unique User password to associate a password with. This can be a real or made up password, just as long as you remember it and it is unique.
Push the User password button. Do the same for the associated Password, and push the Password button. Push Store to store the password in an encrypted file in the same folder as the GOTHPASS tool. Each stored password requires about 500 kb of memory.
To read a stored password, enter your Owner Verification password (if this is a new session), then your User password, and push the User password button to the right. Then just push the Display Password button to see the password in the window to the right. You can copy and paste it from there to the corresponding website etc. You can also use the screen keyboard to enter brief texts or passwords you want to copy and paste, using the panel on the left, without storing them.
No passwords or files are destroyed upon entering wrong user names. If you store a user name identical to one previously stored, the old will be permanently replaced with the new automatically. If you use the same User name in several applications/logons, just store the corresponding passwords under the appropriate web page name or something else you can remember. For maximum security, store encrypted password files and GOTHPASS separately, e.g. keep GOTHPASS on your USB memory stick. Copy the tool over to the desktop folder with the files when working with them, and delete that copy afterwards, retaining the tool on the USB.
